Summer Sketch #5

Wow, I can't believe we're already at the end of July and half way through the summer! It's been going by way too fast!

For this week's summer sketch, I chose a sketch that I found on the My Mind's Eye blog. It was posted as a challenge.

And here's the layout I made with it, using mostly MME products that I purchased at the Shoppe:

And a reminder that along with the Summer Sketches, I'm offering a prize. I will post one sketch each Friday of the summer. If you complete a layout using one of the sketches, post it in the MSS gallery and link it to this thread in the forum.

a little late..

...but when summer rolls around, i sometimes feel that
i can't make time to get scrapbooking done...does this
happen to you? the kids are up later, they're out of
school, by the time they go to bed, you're ready for
bed too??

well, i cut myself some slack, and instead of worrying
about what i wasn't doing, i decided to start little
projects that kept getting pushed to the side..
like this mini-album...been wanting to scrap the concert
i took the girls to last summer...

i've also made a coupla random cards for clients who were
having a birthday.

so what projects do you have that you could catch up on?
there are no questions last week for me to answer,
please feel free to PM me with anything..

now it is off to create some goodness with the august kit!!!
happy scrapping!!

Summer Sketch #4

For this week's sketch, I made my own:

And here's the layout I created with it, in conjunction with the slimmed-down online crop challenge that Flo posted a couple of weeks ago:

Dear Jen

yay!!! my first question..
sorry though, its not monday.
i was lacking internet on monday...

but i'm back now!!!
so the question!!!

Dear Jen,
I find it harder to make a 2 page layout than a 1 pager.
What is the best way to "convert" a 1 page LO to a 2 page LO?

Okay, so i am big fan of white space.
and thats what i keep in mind when doing a 2 pager...

typically if i have more than 3 or 4 photos i want to use
but don't want to do a mini album i do the 2 pager..
spreading out a layout across 2 pages, i think, requires
bigger embellishments, and an enlargement..
the layout above i was going to squish into 1 page..
but it was just that "squished".
next time you have 3 or 4 photos..put out 2 12x12 sheets
and play around...

2 pagers are also nice for sequence photos.
...but really i think if you keep in mind the white space..
its easy to spread a layout into 2..

i hope that answers your question!
keep them coming!!!

Jen

CHA-S Peeks

It's that time of year again! I have to admit, I haven't been following many of the blogs out there, so I completely forgot it was sneak peek time! But from what I've seen, there's a lot of great stuff coming out. Some of my faves:

Crate Paper has three new lines - Restoration, School Spirit and ?? - coming out this time around. I love everything in Restoration, including this lovely paper.
American Crafts has announced two new lines so far - Dear Lizzy's Enchanted + City Park. I love these cute plastic rose brads from the Dear Lizzy line and these super cute paper flowers from City Park.Studio Calico's latest line Elementary is adorable! I love this colour palette.
Newcomer Echo Park posted this cute peek of Life is Good on their Facebook page. I am in LOVE! Rumour has it that they'll be releasing something every month, which I'm excited about if they're anything like this line.
Sassafras's new line, Indie Girl has new colours of their great glitter alphas. I am in love with these, I've been using them non-stop, so was so happy to see they will now come in turquoise!

If you're looking for some other peeks, check out these links:

Cosmo Cricket - Pixie-licious, Matilda, Wanted + Mitten Weather
Jenni Bowlin - Family Tree
My Mind's Eye
October Afternoon - Seaside
Prima - Road Trip, Jack and Jill
Sassafras - Indie Girl

What are your favourites so far??

Summer Sketch #2

For this week's sketch, I chose Sketch #105 at Creative Scrappers:

Last month, I used this sketch to create this layout for our June online crop:

And now, this week, I used it again, modifying it by adding a second photo.

I just love how versatile sketches can be!

And a reminder that along with the Summer Sketches, I'm offering a prize. I will post one sketch each Friday of the summer. If you complete a layout using one of the sketches, post it in the MSS gallery and link it to this thread in the forum.

weekly challenge 14

okay.
the challenges are back.

this week's challenge...
use just the scraps on your table.

Monday, July 5, 2010

twist your topic...

so this week i thought i would show you what i did with this photo i really liked. it was taken at the museum in winnipeg during jolie's field trip. Originally i was going to do a layout about the trip (i still will, no doubt) but when i saw the above photo i changed my mind. I thought she looked like a twin in the photo...so i ran with that idea instead..so this week i challenge you to take a look at your photos and see if there may be a hidden topic lurking in them...

oh, and i am still waiting for questions to answer...any question will do..

PPS...the layout above is done with the july kit, minus the stars.

Summer Sketch #1

I've decided that every Friday this summer, I will share some Sketches for inspiration.

To start us off, I chose a sketch by Jana Eubank that she had posted earlier this year on the Pink Paislee blog.

Here's the layout that I created with the sketch, using the MSS July Kit:

And I think to make the Summer Sketches a little more fun, I'm offering a prize. I will post one sketch each Friday of the summer. If you complete a layout using one of the sketches, post it in the MSS gallery and link it to this thread in the forum.
