Making the most of my scrappy time

I am an event scrapbooker.

I’ll admit it. It’s true.

I find great joy in scrapping the events we attend so that we’ll remember them years down the road.

However, I also enjoy scrapping “the every day moments,” that is, the small stories that make up our lives.

And sometimes, at an event, there are everyday moments that occur. So instead of trying to cram everything onto a one or two page layout, I’ll create more than one layout for that day.

And that’s okay.

However, to make the most of my scrappy time, I’ve found that if I find the right products to match the photos of that day, the easiest thing to do is to use the same products on all of the layouts from that day.

And example of this are the layouts I created with the photos that I took at a petting zoo we visited this June.

This first layout is the “event layout” and summerizes our day:

And then, I created a few more layouts, using the same products (in this case, October Afternoon goodies from the Shoppe), to highlight some of my favourite pictures and little stories from the day.

Just a little something that I do, because I love scrapping the events and everyday moments of our lives and I want to make the most of my scrappy time when I do.

your challenge this week,

well, i just received the August kit to play with,
and i am super pumped to play with it!!!
so i am gonna make your challenge SUPER easy!!!

you know how i asked you last week to list your favourite things??
well this week i want you to do the opposite!

what are the things you really hate???
i made my layout super simple...
didn't want to give the things i hate too much credit.

these 2 like-dislike layouts will be side by side in my book...
bonus ponts to those who tie the 2 together.

( oh, and this layout is on the backside of my "places" one.)

So...
how's your album looking?
i am really starting to like mine..
i love all the bits hanging out,
and i added an owl on the cover..

Fun with collages

Most of the time, I scrap one or two photos on a page. But when a special event comes along where I take lots of pictures, I have a hard time not including them in my albums.

Case in point: our trip to the Morning Sound Farm petting zoo in June. I took lots of pictures and liked a lot of them. I knew a few I wanted to scrap on their own, to tell a mini-story of that day, but I wanted to create a layout that showcased several photos, to give a global feeling of our day.

So, in Picasa3, I chose twelve of my favourite photos from that day and made a collage, in the 8x10 size, and had it printed that way.

When I brought it home to scrap, I actually cut it apart down the middle, thinking I'd switch the two sides. But when I adhered it to my layout, I ended up leaving it as it had originally been created.

Thanks to Marcy's challenge to use white cardstock and some colourful October Afternoon products from the Shoppe, this layout came together quite quickly.

Wednesday Challenge

First of all... thanks to everyone who participated in my last Wednesday's challenge. The winner (by random draw ala Molly) is Tam!

I'll get your prize ready this week.

And now... for another challenge.

I've just recently rediscovered white cardstock.

Your challenge... use white cardstock as your base. Now I'm talking white. Not off white. Not ecru. Not vanilla. White.

Post a link to your layouts here and I'll draw for another RAK next Wednesday.

howdy strangers!!!

wow...i feel like i've missed so much in one weekend...
i am currently experiencing some internet problems, so i
missed the online crop, and have a ton of comments to make
on some killer layouts in the gallery...

so this weeks challenge!!!
did you think i forgot?
nope..just had a date with the Jonas brothers last week,

so this week i want you to list you 10 "faves"
just random fav. things..
i know you have at least 10..wanna list more??? bonus points for you.

also this weekend i created an envelope to stick
some random stories and notes in..
this was SUPER EASY to do...

basicall yi cut it down to fit my album,
and i put a piece of patterned paper under
the flap so the sticky wouldn't wreck my envelope..
i'll show you later how to do the closure if you're
curious...

anyhoo...i better go...
starbucks will get annoyed with me soon...
c-ya later in the world of internet.

Fashion Inspiration

We went into the city yesterday and finally got our passports. And lucky for Molly and I we got to spend a little time in the mall too.

Besides being very disturbed that there were already jackets coming out... I noticed a LOT of orange.

Specifically this color combination.

Now, of course I couldn't afford this little GAP dress, but I can certainly use it as inspiration on a scrapbook page!!

So, my challenge to you is to use this dress as inspiration. I'll draw a RAK for a lucky participant next Wednesday.
